Rise Of Regulated Internet Gambling Markets Rolls On

(PRBuzz.com) April 22, 2013 -- Regulated internet gambling markets with local licences are continuing to take an ever increasing share of the world's e-gaming revenues. Such are the findings of the latest edition of Global Betting and Gaming Consultants' Interactive Gambling Report.

In 2012 GBGC calculates that 40.4% of the US$ 32.9 billion in global revenues for internet sport betting, casino, poker and bingo came from e-gaming firms operating under a local licence. This was an increase from the 38.0% for global revenues in 2011.

GBGC forecasts that almost 44% of global revenues for online sports betting, casino, poker, and bingo will be earned under a local e-gaming licence by 2017.

There are, of course, great variations in the percentage of locally regulated revenues between regions and online gambling activities.
In sports betting, for example, 50% of global revenues were earned under a local e-gaming licence in 2012. This compares with just 18% for global internet casino revenues.

Similarly, in Western Europe local licences accounted for 65% of revenues in 2012, whereas the figure was just 35% in Eastern Europe in the same year.

GBGC's Director Lorien Pilling explained, "Regulated e-gaming markets are certain to continue their rise in the coming years as the likes of Sweden, Germany, and Greece in Europe develop their internet gambling regulation and existing markets like Italy and Spain extend the range of permitted internet gambling activities. In addition, more US states are likely to look at following the lead of New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware."

Trends appear consistent with the rise in web developer jobs sparked by businesses striving to capture the fast growing online markets.

At the start of this year, a number of high street giants called in the administrators, having lost out to online competitors. While in recent news, supermarket chain Morrisons announced that it will start selling groceries online by 2014 in an effort to catch up with its rivals.

Businesses that lack a strong online presence are losing out the changing markets. And after the latest round of high street casualties, more companies are investing in web developers to grow business online.

While UK unemployment rose to 2.56 million in February, the rising number of IT jobs and junior web developer jobs in particular may provide opportunities for unemployed 16 to 24-year-olds.

Meanwhile, various groups are actively campaigning to encourage computer programming tuition in schools to help reduce young unemployment and fulfill the continued rise in demand for web developers.


Earl Reginald Stevenson Receives Admiral Commission from Texas Governor

Austin, Texas (PRBuzz.com) April 22, 2013 -- Texas Governor Rick Perry has commissioned Earl Reginald Stevenson as an Admiral in the Texas Navy and declared him an Honorary Texan and awarded Stevenson the Texas Gold Medal of Achievement.

Texas has had three navies. Two were for military might to protect the state and the latest being to preserve the memory of the past navies. Today one can be appointed by the governor of Texas as an Admiral in the Texas Navy. The First Texas Navy was established in 1835, and the Second Texas Navy was established in 1837. In 1958, Texas Governor Price Daniel re-activated the Second Texas Navy, thus establishing the Third Texas Navy with the purpose of "assuring the survival of Texas' Naval history, boundaries, water resources, and for the civil defense of Texas." In 1973, the Texas Legislature authorized the charter of the Texas Navy Association, Inc., as the official body to oversee the operation of the Texas Navy. Since a Texas Admiral is a government commission it meets all legal requirements.

Stevenson is a commissioned Colonel and life member of Mensa. He is also a close friend of actor, Johnny Depp and a direct descendant of John Stevenson, one of the first settlers at Jamestown, Virginia. Stevenson was recently nominated by legendary British rock icon Sir Cliff Richard for The Order of the British Empire to be bestowed by Her Majesty, The Queen. Stevenson is also a well-known friend of the late David Carradine, Jan-Michael Vincent, and former FEMA Director and Undersecretary of Homeland Security Michael D. Brown. Stevenson also holds a coveted Kukkiwon 4th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.
