With four machines on the campus, they can easily access a variety of healthy snacks and beverages. According to Holtzhausen, the most popular machine is located in the campus library among a few other vending machines with traditional, less-healthy snacks in them.

When choosing locations for his machines, Holtzhausen saw the Charleston School of Law (and its library) as a perfect location. "The students and faculty seem to be pretty well educated on the importance of eating healthy foods. The library is open seven days a week and it has long hours. Students need to refuel when studying, and that's why it's important to provide nutritious snacks," Neil says.

Upon the arrival of the machines, Neil decided to host an informal sampling event, where he allowed students and faculty to try the snacks and drinks that would be offered in the Sprout machines. "People were definitely receptive. They didn't know some of the snacks and products so it was a pretty good opportunity for them to try them. For example, they had never seen a Steaz drink before, and now I sell a lot of the Steaz Pomegranate Tea," explains Holtzhousen.

Neil's healthy vending business at Charleston School of Law took off immediately and has continued to be a success. Working independently, he maintains and refills his machines multiple times a week. In addition to the financial evidence of success, Neil has also received positive feedback from the school administration and the students, themselves. "The manager of the school's buildings sent me an e-mail a few months ago showing me a discussion the students were having on the School of Law's Facebook page. They were amazed that you can get San Pellegrino in a vending machine."

Holtzhousen reports that Angie's Popcorn is the most popular snack among his vending customers, and that water is the most purchased beverage. "These are popular because they're not heavy, and they don't make the students lethargic," explains Neil. "I received requests to sell a healthy energy drink because the vending machine next to mine sells Red Bull and they were looking for a healthy option. Now I sell Steaz Energy Drinks."

Neil has made an effort to cater to the needs of his customers, and in turn has established both a profitable and rewarding business. He plans to purchase another four executive machines in the second half of this year, and to expand his target locations beyond schools to instill healthy eating habits within his community.

Time Management Expert Laura Stack Tells Readers to Use Time Spent Procrastinating More Wisely

DENVER, Colorado (PRBuzz.com) March 14, 2013 -- For anyone who has ever dragged their heels on a pressing task, or dawdled with a deadline looming, it's probably not the first time, and it probably won't be the last. In her latest blog titled, "Resourceful Self-Distraction: Is There a "Good" Kind of Procrastination?" time management and productivity expert Laura Stack asks her readers why they procrastinate.

Often, Stack says, it boils down to one of a few common issues: feeling overwhelmed, fearing failure, or disliking the task.

Another form of procrastination Stack mentions involves putting off tasks out of fear of finishing them too soon, because running out of work too soon can often have implications. This happens most often in jobs that continue only as long as the work lasts, Stack says, like construction or temporary positions, although it's a risk any time a worker's future seems uncertain. When jobs are scarce, this mindset can become more apparent in some industries.

Some jobs, Stack points out, are set up for procrastination when the worker knows that the only reward for finishing early is getting more work piled on, without added compensation. It doesn't take long for an employee to figure out the pace that best serves their self-preservation, and chances are, there's some foot dragging involved in keeping pace.

Usually, however, people procrastinate because they simply don't feel like doing whatever it is they should be doing.
"It's usually a simple lack of discipline," Stack says. "Bottom line: procrastination wastes time; it's no less a time-waster than excessive socializing, personal business, or Internet usage.

"But unlike those activities, procrastination doesn't always stand out as an obvious productivity drain, so rooting it out mostly comes down to self-policing."

Here's the reality: sometimes you are going to procrastinate no matter what. You know what you need to do. You don't feel like doing it. You know you're procrastinating and choose to do it anyway. In that case, Stack suggests to readers that they do the next best thing: try to do something less productive than the task being avoided--a practice she calls "resourceful self-distraction."

"I consider it a lesser form of procrastination," Stack says. "On a scale of one to five, if the number one worst thing you could do is play a Sudoku puzzle and the number five best thing you could do is your top priority of the day, let's settle on something rated a three."

Stack suggests distracting oneself with one of the following resourceful tasks instead:

1. Work on tackling an important but non-urgent task.
2. Clear out the Email inbox, or clear off the desk.
3. Transfer attention to a medium-priority task that needs to be completed today.
4. Check in with those to whom specific tasks have been delegated but feedback is not forthcoming.
5. Knock out a low-priority task such as delivering mail to a colleague, refilling your pop-up note dispenser, or watering your plant.
6. Take a brief walk to clear your head, vowing to get to work immediately upon returning.
7. Clean out a few files.
8. Plan out a new project on a whiteboard.

Stack contends that when someone is not procrastinating entirely, at least they're doing something somewhat worthwhile, rather than wasting time performing a low-impact task. For instance, if you're already putting off an important deadline, you shouldn't be filling that time downloading songs from iTunes or blogging political on Huff Po. Instead, you should cross a few less important tasks off the "to do" list. Stack says it might result in enough head clearing and momentum to motivate a dive into the high priority task you're avoiding.

"While I'm a big critic of staying busy just to stay busy, I do have to admit that sometimes you can use low-value items this way to springboard you into a greater accomplishment," Stack says. "Just get moving, and before long, you may find yourself on a roll."

Honest Air Conditioning of Venice Named Best of Venice Finalist

The 13-year-old company attributes continued success to the services of a local business consultant.

VENICE, Fla.  (PRBuzz.com) March 14, 2013 -- Honest Air Conditioning of Venice was named a finalist for the Best of Venice award by the Venice Gondolier Sun this past year. The company has been nominated by its community for this award for five out of the past six years. Even after 13 years of being in business, the company continues to take new steps to set its bar even higher.

Owners Nick and Brooke Masher opened Honest Air Conditioning of Venice in 2000. Nick had worked in the air conditioning industry since 1973 and knew it was time for them to open their own business.

"We started with no customers and no money," said Nick. "We built our business from the ground up, and learned how to continually make improvements even in the tough recession we faced."

AMERICAN VETERANS TRAVELING TRIBUTE COMING IN JUNE 2013

(PRBuzz.com) March 14, 2013 -- The American Veterans Traveling Tribute (ATTV) Vietnam Wall will find a home on the campus of Lindbergh High School, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd. from June 13 to 16, largely due to the efforts of St. Louis area veterans organizations, Sunset Hills Historical Society and many business and civic organizations.

"The AVTT Traveling Wall" has made stops across the nation and serves to educate, to inspire, and to provide a place for healing for all those who visit. The Wall is an 80 percent scale model of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., which honors U.S. Service members and the U.S. armed forces who died in the service of their country. More than 58,000 names are etched into the memorial wall.

Vietnam veterans have played a key role in the project for a transportable version of the wall, so that those who cannot travel to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., can see what the memorial is all about and touch the names of friends or loved ones from the Vietnam War era.

The June event for St. Louis is known as the Show-Me Hero Salute. A broad-based committee hosting the event began meeting in June with the intention to present a dignified local memorial that will be respectful for those who served and returned as well as those who served and didn't come home.

"Our Show-Me Hero Salute committee has grown in size with every week since its start in January. We are genuinely gratified by the number of civic and veterans groups who have eagerly joined in this effort to show our Vietnam veterans and all veterans that they are never forgotten and they are always appreciated," said Sunset of Hills resident Morris L. "Butch" Thomas, who is chairing the event.
"Every day that the Wall is here will be memorable, beginning Wednesday, June 12, when the wall arrives and an escort motorcade travels through Crestwood on Watson Road and then down South Lindbergh to the high school where there will be a cannon volley welcome," noted Thomas. "On Thursday, there will be bands and a patriotic program and many notables including local mayors, county officials, legislators and leaders in state government."

The Show-Me Hero Salute organizers will provide more details on the multi-day American Veterans Traveling Tribute events as they become available. The daily programs will be short, as the major function of the wall will be to create a solemn, reverent, and meditative site.

Chaplains will be available for visitors as needed. St. Anthony's Medical Center will provide a First-Aid facility on site. Computers will be available and assistance given to help visitors to the scale-model memorial locate the names of their loved ones on the various panels of the Wall.

The Show-Me Hero Salute will have listed hours of operation daily, but the Wall will be available for visitation twenty-four hours a day until the closing ceremony ends at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16.

Two generations ago, America found itself embroiled in the "hottest war" of the Cold War era in Southeast Asia. The Vietnam Wall documents the American loss of life in a war that is generally recorded as lasting from 1959 through the fall of Saigon in 1975. This year marks a series of 50th anniversaries in the intensification of the war and an increase in America's presence in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia.

As a service to the news media and to those who know the importance of remembering this vital piece of American history, the Show-Me Hero Salute public information office will be sending out a series of releases noting such Vietnam War era benchmarks as the dispatch of the first Special Forces, the battles at Ia Drang Valley and Khe Sanh, the Tet Offensive, the commencement of the draft lottery, the freeing of POWs and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Vietnam.

"This is an on-going event that is happening now and will not simply end when the Wall comes down on Sunday, June 16," said Thomas. "We welcome those who have a story to tell today, tomorrow and at the Traveling Tribute Vietnam Wall in June. This is a community event that is free and open to the public and we are going to do our best to live up to our theme: honor, respect, remember."
