    ( August 1, 2013 -- One of the world's most exciting young athletes has achieved a top three finish at only her second national fitness competition. Rachel Nicole, who is sponsored by, is now just one place away from getting her pro card following her stellar showing at Team Universe 2013; a rarity for those who have been training and competing for such a short time.

    Rachel says, "I have always had a passion for fitness and been involved in the gym. I have had the pleasure of getting to know several competitors in the past, and many suggested that I compete, but because of my modeling career and general lack of knowledge about bodybuilding I didn't have an interest to compete before now.

    "Now I am a fully trained Fit Body Life coach and athlete close to earning my IFBB Pro Card after just three competitive events, two of which were national competitions."

    Rachel Nicole's incredible achievement almost resulted in her becoming an IFBB professional athlete at Team Universe 2013. It is very rare for a newcomer to achieve professional status so early on in their career, but Rachel is a figurehead for reaching goals, smashing targets and growing as an individual.

    The athlete originally became involved in the sport thanks to her fiancé, Disco Brown, he exposed her to the world of bodybuilding by showing her the famous Pumping Iron movie and he collection of Muscular Development Magazines which inspired her to support him in his competing goals. The two pushed each other daily, with intense training regimens and nutrition-packed diets as they worked toward their first competition together. For her first competition, Rachel says she trained six days a week, focusing on each muscle group individually, with the help of her fiancé. "Disco and I designed and tried various workouts to see which ones rendered the best results for our bodies. We really go to know our bodies a lot better and learned a lot about our nutritional needs."

    Since the first competition, Rachel's career as an athlete has gone from strength to strength, and she has received sponsorship and coach status from, a leading fitness and nutrition site with an accompanying coaching program. As an ambassador and coach for the program, Rachel has been able to use her own competitive experiences to help others to learn and grow in their fitness journeys and goals. "Being able to speak from experience or be an example of what you can accomplish is the most rewarding part of coaching," she says.

    Rachel plans on competing in two more shows this season for a shot at her pro card in August 2013 and September 2013. She says, "I was one place away from achieving my goal in becoming an IFBB professional athlete at Team Universe. This is an amazing feeling in that it shows how much I have grown since the previous competition and that I have some room to grow! I really try to focus more on the journey and growth of each show because I feel this is more important than the physical trophy you take home to collect dust on your shelf. The real competition takes place long before you hit the stage and if you aren't willing to make the changes necessary and don't enjoy the process then its not going to pay off. I'm looking forward to Competing again at the end of August for another chance work toward that Pro Card! Anything is possible if you believe in the possibility of it. I hope to learn twice as much from my next show and bring an even stronger package and presence to the stage."

    August 18 Bedford, NH "Try-Athlon" will help The Friends of Aine Foundation in mission to build center for grieving children

    BEDFORD, NH, ( August 1, 2013 -- For David, Christine and Bella Phillips, the August 18 event they are organizing - a "Try-Athlon" for youngsters up to age 14 -is designed to help other families cope with some of the heartache their family has personally suffered.

    The Friends of Aine Foundation ( was established to help fund Centers of support, safety and compassion for children who feel alone because their brother, sister, mother or father died too soon. The Foundation is working with Home Health and Hospice Care in Merrimack to establish its first center at their location, and has a fundraising goal of $50,000 to help launch the center.

    To help reach that goal, the Foundation will host its first ever "Try-Athlon" athletic competition on August 18, at the Bedford Town Pool and High School, with the race beginning promptly at 8 a.m. The race is open to children up to age 14. The entry fee is $25.00 prior to race day and $30 on the day of the event. For the first age group, which goes up to and including age 10, the event is a 25-yard swim, a half mile run and a one-mile bike ride. For the second age group, from 11-14, the event includes a 50-yard swim, a one mile run and two mile bike ride. All entrants receive a race shirt and a Friends of Aine Bracelet.

    Funds received from the entry fees, donations and the sponsorships for the Try-Athlon, will go toward the establishment of the first Center in Merrimack.

    "We're looking at this as an opportunity for kids to have fun, be successful, and to raise money," Christine said, adding, "We hope to develop this into a larger, annual event."

    David and Christine's daughter, Aine, died August 10, 2010 at the age of 8, as a result of an undiagnosed lung disease. The family understands firsthand what can happen if a disease is undiagnosed as it was in Aine's case. The loss of their beloved Aine had even further ripple effects because of the effect it had on Aine's sister, Bella, who was 5½ at the time.

    Christine recalls, "Bella entered kindergarten two weeks after her sister died. They were supposed to ride the bus together, find each other on the playground or pass each other in the halls. Instead, Bella was on her own. Numerous times over the past three years she has come home saying that she feels like she's the only one and no one understands how she feels. That is what motivates us; we want to create a center where children like Bella can be with others who have suffered losses like them, where they can build long-lasting relationships. Otherwise, they will never feel safe, or feel like they fit in, and will feel as if they will always be alone. These centers can go a long way toward helping fill that void."
    A number of companies have stepped forward already to help sponsor the event, including the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and Verizon Wireless Arena. A number of individuals and companies have donated prizes to be given away, one by an online auction at the website.
    Christine said, "What David and I have discovered is that while there are ongoing support groups for bereaved parents, there is little support for Bella and kids like her. We believe that this fundraiser and website can help change that, and increase awareness."

    ( August 2, 2013 -- Nearly fifty years after Civil Rights legislation making discrimination unlawful, and with African Americans represented in nearly every area of mainstream America, it is misguided to point toward history for the disproportionate black statistics. This is the perspective of the nation's leading Christ-based counselor Dr. Steven DavidSon.

    "When my eyes opened as a child I was in projects along with numerous other families across the nation. Don't tell me about profiling and injustice. My friends and family have endured it all. I've been in court rooms and jail houses with youths and adults on the wrong side of the law including my own son. I've witnessed discrimination in employment including one of the first class actions leading to a consent decree over a federal facility. So don't accuse me of naivety, or being some kind of sell-out.

    It is true that African Americans' margin for error is more narrow. This has been proven by studies ad-nauseam. However bias and prejudice is a common human experience. It existed before the African American arrived on these shores. Discrimination in whatever form calls for the African American to be more resolute and vigilant."

    According to DavidSon, it's a sad commentary for anyone to focus on matters of race as the principal battle to fight for African Americans.

    "There's a place for continued efforts to live as a conscientious society, but those fighting discrimination with the same methodology as the pre-Civil Rights period is like fighting terrorism with a Cold War mentality. Discrimination is not the principal enemy of the African American in society today.

    It's literally come to Jesus time! The African American cannot survive responsible for half the homicides in the nation with 90% black-on-black murders. The African Americans' future does not look bright with 72 of 100 births outside of the family structure. The African Americans' health is a major concern. African Americans are suffering with heart disease, stroke and diabetes at rates equivalent or higher than any other ethnicity. African-Americans are second behind whites where 24.4% die from heart disease. The African Americans' risk of stroke is twice that of whites. African-Americans are 77% more likely to become diabetic well ahead of any other ethnic group. These are the new Civil Righteousness issues of the 21st Century. I have not even mentioned the incarceration rate."

    But according to DavidSon none of the aforementioned represent the most deadly condition.

    "Here's what we can relate to our ancestors. We are not nearly the people of faith they were. The extraordinary Negro spirituals of the 1800s and early 1900s tell an incredible story of how these people overcame every kind of injustice. Once a people who packed churches across the nation, success is the enemy that has caused us to turn our back on the God who delivered our ancestors. As a child, I recall a major news event where Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson was offered some major sum of money to sing outside of her venue and genre.

    Now, without the same faith that delivered us from slavery and Jim Crow to guide us--from the richest to the poorest we'll say anything. We'll sing anything. We'll do anything, and sell anything to ourselves and the world. 'The wages of sin is death.'

    Oh, it's come to Jesus time!" Dr. DavidSon's ministry has launched a STAND initiative as an initial step to improve conditions in this article.

    As with a tan acquired by spending time out in the sun or in a tanning bed, sunless tans do eventually fade, but unlike traditional tanning methods, which require additional UV exposure as the tan fades, there are a few steps you can take to make your sunless tan last longer.

    Preparing for Your Tan
    Since sunless tanning relies on direct contact with clean skin, proper exfoliation to before your appointment will help to ensure even results and more natural fading. The day before your appointment, shower thoroughly and exfoliate with a natural exfoliating scrub that does not contain oils to remove all dead skin. You'll also want to moisturize the day before your appointment because you will not want to use any creams or lotions on your skin the day of your tan application. You'll also need to shave or take care of any hair removal at least 6 hours before your tanning appointment.

    On the day of your appointment, you should shower and lightly exfoliate again, but avoid applying deodorants, makeup, perfume, or lotions, as they can prevent the tanning solution from adhering to your skin. Remove any jewelry that will leave a tan line. It's a good idea to check the weather- if it is raining you will want to bring close toed shoes and an umbrella to protect your skin from coming in contact with water after your application.

    Post-Appointment Skin Care
    Once your sunless tan has been applied, you'll need to wait for it to fully develop. Usually this will take eight to twelve hours. Before leaving your appointment, ask your sunless tanning consultant how long you should wait before showering or exercising. Continue to avoid makeup or moisturizers until your tan has fully developed.

    When you do first shower, use oil-free products and avoid bar soaps. Take a brief shower rather than soaking in a bathtub. Pat skin dry instead of rubbing the towel over your skin. Once you have showered, apply a water-based moisturizer. Wait a day or two to shave. It's also best to avoid exfoliating until the day before your next appointment.

    Additional Tips
    For a long-lasting tan, there are a few extra measures you can take to prolong that beautiful glow. One important factor is the overall health of your skin.
