Budget to Add to Welfare Payments By $300 million

(PRBuzz.com) May 17, 2013 -- According to new reports coming out of Australia, the Budget will spend over $300 million in order to assist welfare recipients find jobs. The move will surely worry some voters, which Treasurer Wayne Swan admitted could be a problem for group.

The largest allocation of funds, $258 million, will allow nearly 800,000 welfare recipients to gain an extra $38 per two-week period before benefits are essentially wound back.

There is also to be an extra amount of funds to study the training of workers and extended access to the Pensioner Concession Card.

"The Gillard Government believes that the best ticket off welfare is a job, and our reforms will go to the heart of that by removing disincentives for people to work or study while they are on income support payments," said Employment Minister Bill Shorten.

The new maneuver has further indicated the Budget will not be including an increase in the amount, despite demands from the welfare groups around the nation.

Swan prepared to make an announcement on the Budget, knowing full well it may upset some voters. However, Swan stated that he is sure it will assist in the reinforcing of the national economy as a whole.

When asked about the the public's concern regarding the deficit sitting around $20 billion, Swan stated: "I think they do a bit. But if they thought about it like they think about their housing loan they wouldn't worry about it as much."

"The thing is our debt is very small," he told reporters."The fact is that for a time running deficits is a very good buffer while you strengthen your economy and ride out the temporary reductions that come along."

Study Shows Government Hires More Low-Wage Workers Than Wal-Mart, McDonalds

(PRBuzz.com) May 17, 2013 -- According to new research numbers, federal taxpayers now employ more low-wage workers than Wal-Mart and McDonald's combined.

The report was recorded by Demos, the public policy group, estimates that the taxpayer funds pay for almost 2 million jobs that pay less than $24,000 per year within the private sector, which is about $12 per hour or less. The workers who earn such wages owe their incomes primarily from government contracts that include Medicare and Medicaid, and federal infrastructure grants. Demos estimated that 1.4 million works earn that same amount within the two megacorporations, which employ more low-wage workers than any other in the industry.

The findings have highlighted the inequality that is found within government contracting, underscoring that government is as bad as free-market corporations when it comes to the disparity in pay. Many chief executives within major contractors bring in millions per year, while these low-income employees continue to toil in their jobs. However, it should be noted that the free-market companies have continually pushed for government to act more like them, due to their higher efficiency, and so the cause and effect may be primarily due to government acting too much like corporations to begin with.

Still, job creation in the recovery from the recession has been highly focused in the lower strata of earners. Many of the 165,000 jobs that the Labor Department reports on were added in April were through the creation of low-wage work. The National Employment Law Project discovered that low-wage occupations accounted for 20% of jobs lost during the recession, and accounted for 60% of all jobs added during the recovery period.

"We know that growing inequality and these larger, dead-end jobs are a national problem," said Amy Traub, a senior policy analyst at Demos who authored the report. "This is just a piece of that. But the key is, this is a piece that we're responsible for and really that we can do something about" as taxpayers.

Holden Recused Himself from AP Decision to Seek Phone Records

(PRBuzz.com) May 17, 2013 -- The Deputy Attorney General, Jim Cole, and not U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was the one in charge of the decision to seek the phone records of the Associated Press, according to Holden.

Holden looked to distance himself from the decision, but also underscored what he noted was a "very, very serious." Holder made the announcement at a press conference recently held, and recused himself from the decision to avoid the conflict of interest regarding the leak investigation that targeted the AP records.

Critics have continued to denounce the decision. Many in the opposition side of the situation state that it is a impediment of the freedom of press rights. The uproar that has followed has led to questions of the overall handling of national security in contrast to privacy rights. It appears
more and more that the administration favors the former at the expense of the latter.

There is considerable anger regarding the IRS targeting conservative politicians, which has continued the fears of an overreaching government and administration under President Barack Obama.

The White House did make a statement, assuring all that the administration had no knowledge of the IRS or Justice Departments respective actions; however, that has done little to quell the anger that is brewing.

A letter that was sent to AP president Gary Pruitt, Mr. Cole defended the action of the department, and stated that it was necessary to find the source of critical leaks.

Officials stated that the probe was related to a story from 2012, which was conducted by the CIA and other agencies, which had stopped an al Qaeda plot to detonate a bomb over the United States.

Cole declines the request for the records to be returned as well.

"We strive in every case to strike the proper balance between the public's interest in the free flow of information and the public's interest in the protection of national security and effective enforcement of our laws," he wrote. "We believe we have done so in this matter."About PhoneSearchr.com

"No leader should expect anyone to do more than she or he is willing to do as the leader. The leader is responsible for the morale or esprit de corp. Be a listener and empowerer. Build people-up. Get their ideas and use them. Do not create petty requirements and unnecessary barriers. Provide daily encouragement and kudos with simple words of support. Once this is established it provides the framework to correct those who choose to be difficult through face-to-face sessions, disciplinary action, or even termination. "

Christ-based Leader Discloses Two Significant End-time Signs Unfolding Now

There are those who observe the collapse of morals including more sexual promiscuity, violence, and other forms of lawlessness. The occurrence of catastrophes worldwide like floods, earthquakes, and similar events are also cited. Others focus on the Mideast, particularly Israel, and activity concerning the Temple on the Mount. However, according to Dr. Steven B. DavidSon, he believes it can be as simple as two events underway.

"Let me say first that God never allows His people to be 'blind-sided.' He has always provided insight and trumpeting for His people. This is the point. God wants his people to be prepared, and they will be. Use the examples of Noah, Abraham, and Moses. Consistent throughout Scripture is God informing serogates about His plans. Noah is informed to build a boat. Abraham is informed that his posterity will be captured for 400 years. Moses is prepared to lead the people out of Egypt and informed that the people will be protected. These are only a few examples. They were informed about future events. Notice in the examples none of these men would be considered theologians during their day. More importantly, God's words to Abraham have significance for every believer today. 'Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?'(Genesis 18:17-22)."

According to DavidSon, it is well established in the Christian faith that it is possible to make end-time events mysterious and difficult, but it is not to mislead or fool God's people.

"As I have written in my book, the Believer from Milk to Maturity (Section III ) some things are purposely ambiguous. My view is that ambiguity is to keep God's people primary focus on their purpose to reach people with the Gospel and equip them for service. When Jesus ascended the angel informed the Apostles that Jesus would return similarly, but the angel did not mean for us to be sitting on a hill sky-watching.

Nevertheless, there are some absolutely clear and simple indicators. While there is so much emphasis on the Antichrist, the Antichrist is not disclosed until the Church falls away. This is major apostasy. So, what is the condition of the Church? This cannot be assessed without a sharp focus on the First Century Church."

According to Davidson the Church was communal, and over two- thousand years the communal aspect is completely gone.

"There can be no doubt that the Church has already fallen from a communal perspective. And over two-thousand years that would impact every believer including your's truly. But more recently the level of church scandal is more evident than any time that I can recall over four decades. Practically every community with any kind of local-church presence is marred by some kind of scandal, particularly of a sexual nature. The confluence of money-grabbers, sensationalists, and hoaxes permeate the airways. The most telling sign of apostasy was the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's acceptance of Mormonism declassifying the group as a cult. This was not done based on a reassessment of the Mormon's doctrine. It was done to help the Mormon presidential candidate become more acceptable to evangelicals. The majority of them would have voted for the Mormon candidate anyway as the lesser of two evils. But the compromise by the best known worldwide ministry for nearly half a century is a true wake-up call."

According to DavidSon, the Fall of the Church is a significant sign. The second point is to watch developments in the world's most powerful governments.

"I am not a government hater. I do not have a record of bashing any government. The Apostles particularly Paul and Peter called upon believers to honor governing authorities. More importantly Jesus called upon his followers to give honor to governing authorities. These facts give credibility to what I say here. I have no political interest whatsoever.

The combination of the world's financial condition coupled with the terror threat creates a tolerance where masses are willing to relinquish rights for security. Like martial law, we witnessed a major American city completely shut-down in pursuit of two people. The Associated Press corp was wire-tapped and national security was given as the rationale. It does not matter whether the IRS is being disciplined for biased conduct or not. The government when it is given the order can completely shut down the rights of the citizens if desired. The looming debt-limit crisis could throw this nation, and the world into a new level of desperation. This week, May 13, 2013, the president during a speech with the DNC mentioned that he has 3 1/2 years to pursue his agenda. He used the term 3 1/2 years numerous times.

It is not clear whether it is an incredible coincident, example, or wake-up call to every believer who will pay attention that 3 1/2 years is midway through the 7 year tribulation period when a new level of darkness is launched. You ask what's my view? My only response is to repeat Jesus' words about this period. 'No one knows the day or hour.'We are to be ready. I'm ready are you?"

LIPSG plastic surgeons see rise in arm lift procedures

GARDEN CITY, NY (PRBuzz.com) May 17, 2013 -- New statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that arm lifts in women have skyrocketed over the last decade, a trend that doctors are seeing on Long Island, too.

The ASPS figures show a staggering 4,378 percent gain over the past 10 years, fueled in part, by sleeveless fashions for women and more focus on strong-armed celebrities. In 2000, more than 300 women got upper arm lift procedures. Last year, more than 15,000 did.

While numbers for Long Island as a whole are not available, anecdotal evidence supports the report. At Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG), located Garden City, surgeons performed dozens such surgeries in each of the past two years.

"We're seeing a lot more of these surgeries," said Dr. Laurence Glickman, at LIPSG. He said demand is often tied to those who've undergone bariatric weight-loss procedures or lap bands. These patients, he noted, have lost so much weight they've also become unhappy with their sagging arms. "We also do a lot of upper-arm liposuction," Dr. Glickman added.

Upper arm lifts can include liposuction, where excess fat is removed with just a couple of 1/4" incisions near the elbow and armpit. Those with excess skin, however, may require a surgical procedure known as brachioplasty, in which loose skin is removed from the arms. Done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, Glickman said, Brachioplasty can involve an incision from 2" to 10" down the back of the arm, which then is wrapped and allowed to heal over several weeks.

Women are the main candidates for arm lifts, although men increasingly are seeking out cosmetic surgery and now account for as much as 10 percent of all procedures.

Nevertheless ASPS president Gregory Evans, MD, supports the notion that women constitute most arm lift patients. "Women are paying more attention to their arms in general and are becoming more aware of options to treat this area," said Evans. "For some women, the arms have always been a troublesome area and, along with proper diet and exercise, liposuction can help refine them. Others may opt for a brachioplasty when there is a fair amount of loose skin present with minimal elasticity."

Doctors say there is no single reason behind the increase, though celebrities from the White House to the red carpet may be having an influence. A recent poll conducted on behalf of ASPS found that women are paying closer attention to the arms of female celebrities and that women most admire the arms of first lady Michelle Obama, followed closely by Jennifer Aniston. Actresses Jessica Biel and Demi Moore, and daytime TV talk show host Kelly Ripa also got votes for their toned arms.

Dr. Michael Dobryansky, also of LIPSG, said plastic surgeries of all types tend to increase at this time of year, possibly due to rising consumer confidence, seasonal factors and the arrival of income-tax refunds. Whatever, the reason, he said, "Our rooms are running at capacity."

National Safe Boating Council, Partners Encourage others to ''Wear Your Life Jacket to Work on May 17

Bristow, VA (PRBuzz.com) May 17, 2013 -- National Safe Boating Council and its partners are reminding anyone and everyone about "Wear Your Life Jacket to Work" Day on May 17, 2013. National Safe Boating Council joins boating professionals and boating enthusiasts to heighten awareness of different life jacket types that are available, including inflatable life jackets, and demonstrate their comfort and versatility by wearing them to work.

The annual event, hosted by the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) serves as a fun, educational element just prior to National Safe Boating Week, May 18-24, the official launch of the 2013 North American Safe Boating Campaign. Educating the boating public about the safety and comfort of life jackets has been a main focus of the North American Safe Boating Campaign.

"Wear Your Life Jacket to Work" Day will take place on May 17 wherever you are!

"'Wear Your Life Jacket to Work' Day is a great reminder that wearing a life jacket is so easy and comfortable, you can even do it at work," remarks Rachel Johnson, communications director of the National Safe Boating Council.

The National Safe Boating Council is asking all participants to take a picture of themselves in their life jacket while at work and post it to the "Ready, Set, Wear It!" Facebook page (Facebook.com/ReadySetWearIt) or submit directly to the NSBC at outreach@safeboatingcouncil.org.
U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of death in 71% of recreational boating fatalities in 2012, and that 85 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets.

Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Awards the Bullying Academy

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRBuzz.com) May 17, 2013 -- The Bullying Academy was among many small businesses and non-profit organizations that were nominated in recognition for their leadership, integrity, and management skills in the Fort Lauderdale area. At the 2013 Small Business of the Year Awards, the organization was presented an award for Outstanding Business Practices & Success. The program's coordinator, Amanda Arana, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the team behind the interactive anti-bullying program for 4th - 8th grade students.

It is fitting that the organization should receive a certificate and award for their contributions towards raising awareness and attempting to reduce the number of bullying-related incidents across the country. When students engage in their online program, they personally receive a certificate for their score and help put their school in the running to win the Bullying Academy National Championship.

The Bullying Academy requires no additional software or extensive training for teachers. Schools simply register with the program's website and students immediately have the curriculum available to them. It can be implemented during any class period or extracurricular activity.
