    ISLANDIA, NY ( May 16, 2013 -- Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. (LIHBCDC) will break ground May 23 for the nation's first-ever affordable housing subdivision developed exclusively for Long Island veterans who served during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    "There has never been anything like this to my knowledge," said Tom Datre, president of LIHBCDC. "We are providing much needed housing for those who bravely served our country - and their families - in a community where all the neighbors will be veterans."

    These first of their kind six homes are to be built through LIHBCDC's "Building New Homes for Returning Veterans" program on 3.5 acres donated by CA Technologies in Islandia. The group plans to complete construction by Veteran's Day, Nov. 11. The subdivision, known as Veterans Way, is on the south side of Motor Parkway, west of Old Nichols Road.

    Participating in the ground breaking will be leaders of LIHBCDC, members of the Long Island Builders Institute; elected officials, including Islandia Village Mayor Allan Dorman; veterans group leaders; CA Technologies executives and veterans who have applied for the homes.

    "The village is honored that this first-ever subdivision is being constructed in our community," said Dorman.

    Veterans interested in purchasing the homes, which will be sold at prices substantially below market prices, must meet certain qualifications and will be selected by a committee of local, county and state commanders of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Applications will be accepted through June 30.

    The "Building New Homes for Returning Veterans" program was created by LIHBCDC, a nonprofit 501(c)3 arm of Long Island Builders Institute, in 2009. So far, it has built two homes with additional homes planned after completion of the Islandia subdivision

    Applicants for the homes should write a letter to LIHBCDC, 1757 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Islandia, NY 11749 detailing their contact information, military service, present employment and living status and why the home would be life changing.

    "We want people to know about this program so veterans will apply and those who want to assist our effort will donate generously," said Lois Fricke, director of development for LIHBCDC.

    In May 2013 around 300 bicyclists participated in the Corsicana State Race which was hosted by the Dallas Racing bike club.

    The race consisted of three events, starting with a timed five-mile trial, where riders compete against the clock. The second race was a one-mile loop around downtown with 12 different categories; professional men, professional women, amateur men, amateur women and juniors. The third race was the longest and took place on the rolling hills near Pursley; the professional competitors in that race went 88 miles.

    Corsicana was a great site for the race because it is about 45 miles south of Dallas and attracts riders in the Metropolis, Houston, Austin, and East Texas areas. The historic downtown brick streets of Corsicana and the Pursley hills weren't an obstacle for these experienced riders. The bricks of downtown Corsicana are similar to the cobblestone streets in Europe and are viewed only as a challenge and the hills in the road race weren't bad compared to those around Austin.

    U.S. Warehousing Market Projected for Continued Growth in 2013 and Beyond

    WASHINGTON D.C., ( May 17, 2013 -- The demand for U.S. warehouse space moved from the recovery phase to the expansion phase in the 4th quarter of 2012--a trend that is projected to continue through 2014, according to CoStar Group.

    According to CoStar's 2012 Year-End Industrial Review and Outlook, there was a positive net absorption of warehouse space across the U.S. late in the year, lowering the vacancy rate to 8.9 per cent among the 210 markets tracked by CoStar, a decline of 30 basis points.

    CoStar markets logged 103.8 million square feet of net absorption in 2012, with positive space absorbed in 151 markets accounting for 120.7 million square feet and 59 still reporting negative absorption totaling an extremely low -16.6 million. The 7 million square feet of negative absorption in the fourth quarter was the lowest quarterly total since 2005.

    According to Rene Circ, director of industrial research for CoStar's Property and Portfolio Research (PPR), and Senior Economist Shaw Lupton, in spite of increased warehouse leasing in the fourth quarter, current market projections suggest that leasing velocity remains weak. The two real estate economists noted, however, that the 4th quarter conditions show ripeness for improvement as both tenant move-ins and move-outs are running below historical averages, suggesting a set stage for new demand growth and increased net absorption in 2013.

    "On net, this was a landmark [fourth] quarter in the sense that we're finally in the black in terms of overall demand," Lupton said.

    In addition to demand gains in larger, newer building coveted by national distributors, "we've just recently started to see increasing improvements in the rest of the market as demand spills over in the widening economic recovery, including an improvement in the housing market."

    "After everything the industrial market's been through in this cycle, including the worst demand losses on record, this is one of the reasons we like this sector in a slow-growth economy," Lupton said.

    According to subsequent media reports, the court has asked the government to respond to the public interest litigation. The court also issued a series of notices to the ministers of home offices, as well as information technology, information and broadcasting, and home affairs. The Internet Service Providers Association also received a notice on a petition seeking the installment of an anti-pornography law, according to reports.

    While the concerns of a policing state for personal viewing is a worrisome one, many wonder if the endeavor is even possible for the government to attempt to enact. There are, in general, two primary ways to block pornography sites. The first is to virtually remove the content. That can
