SANTA ANA, Calif., (PRBuzz.com) May 6, 2013 -- In a ceremony opening a recent meeting of the Santa Ana Unified School District board of directors, one of its teachers was honored for her work with students in the gardens of the Heritage Museum of Orange County.

Susie MacPhee, who teaches preschoolers at Mitchell Child Development Center the fine art of outdoor gardening, including composting, uses the gardens at the neighboring museum at 3101 W. Harvard Steet in Santa Ana. The museum sits on SAUSD property.

"We have a special connection to Susie MacPhee," said Candace Chromy, the museum's executive director. "Not only is she engaged in the use of the outdoor space for her students, she also has made a monetary contribution of her own to help make the garden project more accessible to all students."

MacPhee, who has taught special education in Santa Ana for more than two decades, received her credentials from UCI, University of Redlands and California State University Long Beach. In her spare time, she is an avid skier, kayak fan, blogger and self-proclaimed "ceramics nut".

The Heritage Museum's children's garden was created by its director of natural history and agriculture Patrick Mitchell in close cooperation with Mark Bello, principal at the Mitchell center.

Heritage Museum of Orange County is a unique cultural and natural history center in Southern California, with late 19th Century buildings, citrus groves and manicured floral gardens covering 12 acres of prime Santa Ana Unified School District property. NVNA and Hospice Celebrates National Visiting Nurse Association Week

Golden State Collision Repair Centers and Make-A-Wish® Reveal Renovated '65 Mustang to Local Teen on World Wish Day

Elk Grove, CA (PRBuzz.com) May 6, 2013 -- A local teen boy received a wish come true when he was presented with the complete transformation of his 1965 Mustang Fastback, a personal wish coordinated through Golden State Collision Repair Centers and Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada.

Michael, 18, was presented his renovated '65 Mustang on Monday, April 29, 2013, the 33rd anniversary date of the very first wish granted by Make-A-Wish. Through a partnership of the Northeastern California and Northern Nevada Make-A-Wish Chapter, Wish Adopter Les Schwab Tire Centers and Golden State Collision Repair Centers, the transformed Mustang was revealed to Michael on Make-A-Wish's World Wish Day, at the Golden State Collision Repair Center, 9131 Elkmont Lane, Elk Grove, CA, 95678.

Golden State Collision Repair Centers was contacted by Make-A-Wish in the winter of 2012 to ask for assistance in granting this wish for Michael. The 1965 Mustang Fastback had been his father's car, and it was his wish to restore it to its original condition. Golden State Collision Centers has collaborated with numerous businesses in order to completely restore the vehicle, whose repairs include a complete paint color change, body work, new upholstery, new sound system, glass installation, and new wheels.

"We were approached by volunteers of the local Make-A-Wish chapter to help out on Michael's wish to refurbish his '65 Mustang Fastback. As a company, we are always in search of ways to help our community and its families. When we heard about this wish, we jumped on board to spearhead the renovation of Michael's vehicle," said Dave Finkelstein, marketing director of Golden State Collision Repair Centers. "We are delighted to be able to present this wish on the anniversary date of the very first wish granted by Make-A-Wish. Anti-Semitism Scholar Alvin Rosenfeld Honored

Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law today lauded LDB Academic Advisor Alvin Rosenfeld on the occasion of his receipt of the Provosts Medal from Indiana University. Indiana University Bloomington Provost Lauren Robel presented the Provost's Medal to Professor Rosenfeld, an internationally recognized scholar of contemporary anti-Semitism, Holocaust literature, and Jewish studies who established and has led Indiana University's Jewish Studies program as well as its Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.  

Rosenfeld is IU's Irving M. Glazer Chair of Jewish Studies, a professor of English and Jewish studies, and a member of the Louis D. Brandeis Center's Academic Advisory Board. Although he is best known for his work in Holocaust literature, Rosenfeld is also a leading expert in the study of contemporary campus anti-Semitism. The Brandeis Center, which was established to combat campus anti-Semitism, has been privileged to have Dr. Rosenfeld on its board and to work with The Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism. In addition, this blog recently described the success of Rosenfeld's newest book, The End of the Holocaust

Five-Week Indoor Golf League Set to Start Early May
