A recent report released by ComScore shows that the Apple website has gained many visitors as of late. It has now moved from No. 11 to the eighth position in the ranking of the world's most popular websites.

The Comscore totals measure the popularity of websites across the globe, and are on the basis of unique visits (rather than total) across platforms such as computers and smartphones. The Comscore company uses Media Metrix, which is a Multi-Platform to measure the visits that assists current ranking to be more precise.

Apple has gained much in the new measurement system, and has recorded nearly 115,000 visitors, which made the company jump up three spots from its previous standing.

An excerpt from the blog site of the company explains the measurement platform.

"Multi-platform audience measurement immediately changes the established view of the digital landscape, with media properties' audience sizes increasing, in addition to changes occurring within content category rankings. The average property within the Top 100 increased its audience size by an average of 38%, and 19 of those properties had incremental mobile (i.e. smartphone and tablet) audiences that extended the reach of their desktop audiences by at least 50 percent. The properties with the greatest incremental percentage gains from mobile were Groupon (223%), Zynga (211%) and Pandora (183%)."

Google still retains first position by a wide margin. The company had over 228,000 in February alone. Facebook and Amazon took the fourth and fifth spots respectively. Both sites saw record growth during February as well. Some sites, such as Zynga and Apple itself, had the highest jump in overall growth, according to the Comscore totals.

The use of mobile user ratings have certainly assisted in Apple's new improved score. Given that mobile users are an increasing part of the online searching totals, Apple is likely to continue to improve regarding its totals.

San Francisco, Ca (PRBuzz.com) April 9, 2013 -- According to a new press release, Google is now taking a step beyond its purely informational retrieving system, and working its way into grocery delivery. The company is preparing a test run in the Bay Area

The new service, which is called Google Shopping Express, will initially provide same-day delivery for all food and auxiliary products that are bought online by a group of consumers within San Francisco located in the south of the city. The company, which is based in Mountain View, California, did not say how many persons will be part of the test.

If the new test program goes well, Google will then continue with plans to explained the delivery service to further markets.

"We hope this will help users explore the benefits of a local, same-day delivery service, and help us kick the tires on the new service," Google said in a Thursday statement.

The delivery service is all part of a Google effort to find consumer reliance on the internet that goes beyond simple seek/location of information. That way, the company will have more opportunities to show online ads, which will gain the company the most revenue.

Google is learning that the more times people spend money online, the more likely those same individuals will until its search engine over others, along with its other services such as YouTube and Gmail.

The delivery service may spur merchants to buy much more online advertisements as well. While the scientists did not use a crystal ball, but instead a battery of sensors designed to determine the intentions of humans through subtlest changes in heart-rate, gaze, and physiological markers, the scientists hoped to predict the actions of individuals.

The sensors are called "Future Attribute Screening Technology, which is a $20 million federal project that has been set with the aim of highlighting airport passengers whose bodies betray their hostile intentions. FAST has been said to have the potential to detect various terrorist future actions in the final minutes before the act is to occur. Critics, however, warn that the system may have other, less desirable consequences. They list possibilities such as flagging innocent travelers through false positive conclusions could allow others who are able to trick to known markers with false negative outcomes. The HDS still maintains that the program is merely attempting to improve an older and more fallible current system, that of human judgment.

DHS internal documents indicated that a controversial program to predict a person's intention to commit crimes was already tested on volunteers. DHS uses algorithms to attempt and note particular markers that would indicate someone has ill intent in a variety of situations.

In the document released by FAST, program manager Robert Middleton Jr. referred to a limited initial trial that was utilized on DHS employees as test subjects. He stated that the sensors are non-intrusive and simply a collection of video images, audio records, and psycho-physiological measurements from the employees.

Some scientists still question whether or not this system, which they claim is similar to a Lie Detector, can really find unique signatures for malintent vs general anxieties individuals have while in crowded areas or before flights specifically. Essentially, the need ability to be able to predict like a psychic is still out of the realm of possibility.

"Even having an iris scan or fingerprint read at immigration is enough to raise the heart rate of most legitimate travelers," says Tom Ormerod from the Investigative Expertise Unit at Lancaster University.

Taxicabs pose a disproportionate threat to cyclists across metropolitan. Those on bikes are often in competition with the same sliver of curbside with cabs that are awaiting or picking up passengers. While New Yorkers may be bracing themselves for contact, it appears an unexpected factor may be playing into the protection against serious injury: being overweight.

These and other findings are all part of a medical study of injuries of pedestrians and cyclists in the city. The study was conducted by a team of trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, as well as researchers from NYI Langone Medical Center.

From December of 2008 to June of 2011, the group took in data from over 1,4000 pedestrians and cyclists that are being treated at the Bellevue Hospital Center following collisions. Most occurred within Manhattan and western Brooklyn, stretching along the busiest sections of the city where safety has been generally overlooked for the last decade.

The study could now help inform transportation planning within the city, according administration officials evaluate how to best engineer the roads to reduce accidents from occurring as often.

Undoubtedly, behaviors can be improved across the three major parties: pedestrians, cyclists and drivers," Dr. Spiros G. Frangos, the study's senior author, said in a telephone interview. "The bottom line is: What else can we do as we go down this path of pushing a bicycling agenda, which should be good for the city?"

While there are studies that include the 2010 city Transportation report on pedestrian safety, most studies have focused on the frequency and location of accidents. The new study has focused on the patients themselves, and has retrieved data obtained through the self-reporting by victims immediately following the collisions, combined with medical records of the accounts by first-responders.

What is likely to be considered the most surprising finding was the excessive weight may prove to be an asset during accidents. Victims that possess higher-than-average body mass index scores were found to have lesser injuries that their counterparts. "It is not implausible that a greater proportion of torso and extremity fat may protect against injury," the report said.
