    Fort Lauderdale, FL. (PRBuzz.com) June 12, 2013 -- For thirteen years, high school and college students have been signing up with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation (CKSF) to win scholarships by testing what they know. On June 7, CKSF celebrated its millionth registrant, a high school senior from Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas.

    The first Common Knowledge Scholarship was created in 2001 to reward average students who had well-rounded, practical knowledge. The Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation found a niche in creating scholarships that utilize online quizzes instead of essays and GPA. This method proved to give every student a real chance to win money for college. Since then, CKSF has developed a wide variety of scholarship and academic enrichment programs for students of all ages.

    To date, the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $350,000 and more than 800 scholarships to students. Many of the scholarships are funded by unexpected donations, which allow students to participate for free. Though participants range from high school to graduate students, winners have also included parents who have assigned scholarships to their children.

    In 2004, CKSF administered scholarship quizzes based on information from websites such as the Miami Dolphins and the FBI. The success of those scholarships gave way to other partnerships with organizations including the United Way, University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Nova Southeastern University (NSU).

    The effectiveness of the FBI Scholarship also led the Miami FBI Crimes Against Children Unit and CKSF to team up and create the USA-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) Internet Challenge, an internet safety program designed to help students become responsible cyber citizens. More of a social good rather than a scholarship, the program awards students with prizes and trophies.

    Washington, DC (PRBuzz.com) June 12, 2013- The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law today released The Louis D. Brandeis Center's Short Guide to the Law Against Campus Anti-Semitism, an LDB Fact Sheet on Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has observed that Jewish American students often do not know their rights against anti-Semitism on college and university campuses. The Brandeis Center intends for its Fact Sheet to remedy this problem.

    Within the Fact Sheet students are able to find answers to many of their questions, such as what exactly Title VI is and why it protects them as Jewish students. More importantly, it helps students identify when an incident is anti-Semitic, specifying various qualifications like if something is "demonizing Israel with symbols and images associated with classic anti-Semitism, comparing Israeli policy to that of the Nazis, and blaming Israel for all inter-religious or political tension," amongst others. Furthermore, the Fact Sheet provides directions to resources like Brandeis Center lawyers, as well as reassuring students that universities are not allowed to retaliate against them in the face of accusations.

    The Fact Sheet serves as a guidepost for Jewish students who face hostile environments, harassment or other forms of discrimination, informing them of their rights under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and how to go about responding to anti-Semitism they experience. Crafted by Brandeis Center staff attorney Danit Sibovits, the fact sheet shines a light on underused processes available to victims of anti-Semitic biases and sentiments, while helping identify what actually constitutes such an incident.

    LDB President Kenneth L. Marcus commented, "Jewish students will now have the knowledge that they are protected from unjust and anti-Semitic treatment."

    The Fact Sheet comes as the Brandeis Center's legal advocacy program is gaining momentum, increasing the Center's campus monitoring and advocacy. By addressing commonly asked questions and providing answers and resources, the fact sheet is intended to raise awareness of issues encountered by over 40% of Jewish American college students and is a call to action for those directly affected.

    Taft, California, located at the extreme southwestern edge of the San Joaquin Valley, is a major petroleum and natural gas production region and one of the few remaining towns in the United States which exist exclusively because of nearby oil reserves. The Midway-Sunset Oil Field, where Taft is located, is the largest in California and the third largest in the United States. Operating continuously since 1894, it had produced nearly 3 billion barrels (480,000,000 cubic meters) of oil through the end of 2006. By the end of 2008, its estimated reserves totaled 532 million barrels (84,600,000 cubic meters), or 18% of California's total.

    Most of the crude oil produced in these fields is in the heavy gravity category (13-14 degrees API), and thus requires enhanced oil recovery operations in the form of steam production and injection. Thermal recovery methods include steam flooding, cyclic steam, and fire flooding, as well as water flooding to boost reservoir pressures. As a result the need for water reclamation and recycling is substantial.

    It is expected that Scalada will include its unique and patented Elemental Ionization System (EIS) as a keystone of its proposals. The system is considered the worldwide leader in the field because it enables water reclamation in ways that are economical, environmentally friendly and profitable. The system also has the distinct advantages of onsite placement and almost complete mobility, thus allowing oil and gas producers to reduce greatly the need for vast qualities of fresh water.
